"On the sands of 90 Mile Beach, New Zealand"
Ninety Mile Beach Lodge – Taharangi Marie is a unique luxury
lodge nestled amongst the sand dunes of 90 Mile Beach,
Northland NZ.
This beautiful
piece of northern paradise is an excellent location for
discovering the beauty of Northland.
90 Mile beach
is one of the most beautiful spots in New Zealand’s
Northland. However, 90 Mile Beach is somewhat of a misnomer
because this stunning stretch of sandy shoreline is in
fact closer to 90 kilometres long!
But whether, 90 miles or 90 kilometres long, the beach
is part of a very special area. In fact the name ‘Taharangi Marie’ means ‘peaceful horizon
set on biscuit-coloured sand dunes’. And when you
stay there, you can sit on the verandah and relax with
these beautiful biscuit-coloured sands just a stone’s
throw away.
With the 90 Mile beach fifty metres away from your bedroom,
you can enjoy the beach at sunrise, walk along its sands,
pick up shells, spot distant dolphins, enjoy some spectacular
sunsets and gaze at the stars.
Your
stay on 90 Mile
Beach can also include:
The most famous
Tuatua on the 90 Mile Beach
Sample the ‘Taharangi Tuatua’ - a shellfish
soup especially created by your host, Ron.
Fresh from the sea
In the waters just off the 90 Mile beach, pick your own
seafood and have your catch cooked fresh. Tuatua are found
in ankle-deep water by foot, so your catch of tuatua can
even go into Ron’s famous soup!
The special stories of 90 Mile Beach
Listen to tales of Maori chief, Te Houtaewa, in whose
honour the 90 Mile beach race is run, walked and cycled
by locals to remember his great speed, cunning and cheek.
Spa by Starlight
Lie back and listen to the waves off 90 Mile beach and
count the stars.
